School gardens are a wonderful way to use the schoolyard as a classroom, reconnect students with the natural world and the true source of their food, and teach them valuable gardening and agriculture concepts and skills that integrate with several subjects, such as math, science, art, health and physical education, and social studies, as well as several educational goals, including personal and social responsibility.
School gardens are not new. When I visited the Philippines in 1994, I saw a garden in every schoolyard. One elementary school principal explained to me that the students worked in the garden and, in return,
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT deals with how things are done. It has to do with procedures, routines, and structure—sometimes to the point of becoming rituals. Classroom management is the teacher’s responsibility and is enhanced when procedures are:
1.Modeled
2.Explained
3.Practiced
4.Reinforced by periodically practicing again.
When procedures are learned, routines are established. Routines give order and structure to instruction.
Good classroom management is essential for efficient teaching and learning. Chances are that when you walk into a room, you do not pay much attention to the floor. But if it were missing, you would. The analogy works for classroom management. You don’t
Mathematics is an indispensable subject of study. It plays an important role in forming the basis of all other sciences which deal with the material substance of space and time.
What is Mathematics?
Mathematics may be described as the fundamental science. It may be broadly described as the science of space, time and number. The universe exists in space and time, and is constituted of units of matter. To calculate the extension or composition of matter in space and time and to compute the units that make up the total mass of the material universe is the object of Mathematics.
The most effective teachers vary their styles depending on the nature of the subject matter, the phase of the course, and other factors. By so doing, they encourage and inspire students to do their best at all times throughout the semester.
It is helpful to think of teaching styles according to the three Ds:
1. Directing
2. Discussing
3. Delegating
The directing style promotes learning through listening and following directions. With this style, the teacher tells the students what to do, how to do it, and when it needs to be done. The teacher imparts information to the students via
More Indians go to college than ever. Up to half are unemployed or underemployed a year after graduation. And two-thirds say they need further training and instruction to enter the workforce. As student debt balloons, it’s time for society to re-evaluate postsecondary education—and our entire system. We need to create new and innovative systems that help individuals achieve their potential. The nation needs an education system that excites and stimulates children, providing them with the learning they need - and deserve - to fulfill their potential. This means providing a curriculum of practical and vocational learning alongside theoretical study.

“If we were supposed to talk more than we listen, we would have two tongues and one ear.” Remarked by Mark Twain, an easy way to remember that listening can be twice as important as talking. As a student, you most likely spend many hours in a classroom doing a large amount of focused listening, yet sometimes it is difficult to apply those efforts to communication in other areas of your life. As a result, your listening skills may not be all they could be.
Listening is a skill of critical significance in all aspects of our lives--from
The Indian economy needs emergence of new, innovative and enthusiastic entrepreneurs and education is an important factor in developing entrepreneurial competencies in individuals. India is a young country with average of about 63 per cent population currently being in the working age group of 15 to 59 years. Studies have found that entrepreneurship prevalence rates are highest in the 25-34 age groups. But this advantage could become a barrier if the youth is not able to develop the appropriate skills including entrepreneurial skills. The educational institutes have a major role to play in this.
After 1991, when India opened its
When discussing or defining quality, it is important to distinguish between education and schooling. Some of the literature does make this distinction but much of it conflates the two concepts, in some cases using them as though they are completely interchangeable. Although rather dated, a broad definition of education is the development of desirable qualities in people of course, there is no agreement about the end of “desirable qualities” and what these are. Schooling, on the other hand, is about providing the service of „education‟, i.e. of educating young people through institutionalised and universalised „organised‟ learning.

“I think I can. I think I can. I think I can.”
When facing a challenge, do you feel like you can rise up and accomplish your goal or do you give up in defeat? Are you like the famous little train engine from the classic children's book ("I think I can, I think I can!), or do you doubt your own abilities to rise up and overcome the difficulties that life throws your way? Self-efficacy, or your belief in your own abilities to deal with various situations, can play a role in not only how you feel about yourself,
Examinations are almost always stressful. Students rarely know exactly what to expect on the test, and those who suffer from exam fear or exam anxiety can see their grades suffer as a result of this stress. A little anxiety can actually help your performance, but some students become so overwhelmed that they "seize up" and forget what they have studied. Exam anxiety can strike before, during and after a test. Even the best preparation and the most positive mindsets cannot prevent some little exam anxiety from arising every once in a while. It is most unfortunate that our society gives
